Path: Lago del Fiastrone - Grotta dei Frati – Monastero (335 - 336 - 341);
At first the trail descends gently to the impressive Gole del Fiastrone, a gorge carved out by the river over the centuries, and then the route continues in a steep ascent to the other side of the valley. From here, with a little detour, you can visit the Cave of the Friars (Grotta dei Frati), an atmospheric hermitage made by Clareni monks dating from the year one thousand. The route continues past the beautiful Lame Rosse, an amazing phenomenon caused by rainwater erosion, until you reach the turquoise water of Lago del Fiastrone that reflects the high peaks of the surrounding mountains. The itinerary can also be done in reverse, starting from the Lago del Fiastrone.
STATUS OF THE ROUTE DETECTED AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE OF 2016
Nothing to report from the starting point dam of Lago del Fiastrone up to the Lame Rosse intersection. Starting from this point, there are some small obstacles you can easily bypass. The remaining part of the path is not walkable.
