Ascending the left side of Costa Tranquilla the route passes through the pastures at the head of the Valle di Campobonomo along the ridge of Monte Coglia. From here, a long descent begins offering extensive views over Lago del Fiastrone and the trail enters the hamlet of Tribbio di Fiastra

The Lake of Fiastra, which fits so perfectly into the landscape, is not, in fact, a marvellous gift of nature but the result of human ingenuity which contained the river Fiastrone with a dam in order to produce electrical energy.

On the hill of St Paul, easily visible to those descending from Monte Coglia, stands the ancient Castrum Flastrae, now Magalotti Castle. The ruins of its solid perimeter walls and central keep can still be clearly seen. Here, the population, along with the livestock, used to take refuge from enemy invasions.
