The Castrum Flastrae, whose origins predate the 11th century, rose from the hills of S. Paolo. This was appended
to the residences of the Podestà and the General Council and was surrounded by solid walls with seven towers and
a keep. Between 1170 and 1259 it belonged to the feudal domain of the Magalotti, Counts of Fiastra, along with
the Castles of Poggio, Macereto and Appennino. In 1259 the Magalotti sold the four fortresses to the town of
Camerino. What remains of the castle are the ruins of walls on three sides, and the ruins of two of the towers
and the keep.
