On the bottom of a vanished lake

Norcia, completely surrounded by an ancient defensive wall, can only be entered through its portals, and the town presents a particularly rich history that has been well preserved. Architectural shaped by the Etruscans, the Sabines and the Romans, Norcia is also the birthplace of St. Benedict, the patron saint of Europe. At Nottoria, one of the interesting villages on this itinerary, there is a monumental oak that is centuries old and still in excellent health. Also worth a visit in this charming village is the parish church of S. Pellegrino, where there are well preserved, interesting paintings from the seventeenth century.
