From the summits to the sea

This route passes through the vast open meadows of Ragnolo, boasting spectacular flowers in the spring. There are breath taking views of the hills toward the sea on one side of the Sibillini Mountains, while on the other side, toward Acquasanta and then Fargno, the mountains present dramatic forms with deep valleys.

In spring, the mountain pastures of the Prati di Ragnolo are full of spectacular blossoms. Of the myriad of flowers adorning the meadows, the gentian, poet’s narcissus, Eugenia violet, peony and various species of orchid stand out in particular. Many meadows are mown to make hay, a traditional activity that helps to maintain a high level of diversity in the plants and in the landscape.

The route passes the Sancturary of San Liberato. Completely immersed in the greenery, it was built by the Franciscan brothers of the Saint after they abandoned their original ancient hermitage in 1260.
