Rising from the area of the Castle of Cornacuna, it is of ancient origin,
however it underwent a steep decline in the 16h century, enough that it was then closed to worship. It has a
gothic stone entryway displaying a coat of arms above the arch.
The church has a single nave and is oriented to the north instead of east for defensive purposes.
Subsequently a single lancet window opened on the east; this window illuminated the altar and emphasized
the notion that Christ comes from the east. On the interior back walls there are frescoes by Girolamo di
Giovanni, dating back to 1456 and restored in 1992-93, and a fresco from 1613 attributed to Peregrino di Milano.
