TOWER ENTRANCE ARCH

Castelfantellino (Frazione Castelfantellino) The tower is the only remnant of the ancient castle erected on the hills of Castelfantellino in 1382. The fortress had trapezoidal walls with parapets and crenelations, protected by a large master tower and three corner towers. The interior was completed in the 1400s.

CALCARIA GATE

Porta Calcaria (Frazione Castelfantellino) The remains of the ancient fortress-village of Castelfantellino that had an auxilary function to the actual Castle. In 1478-82 it was the temporary seat of the Podestà and the Priori di Visso, during the rebuilding of the Palazzo dei Priori. The arch leads into a courtyard, which is said to have been the house of Castellano, and still called “the emperor’s house.”
